This major focuses on the theory and practice of contemporary screen production. Units cover a mix of media production and analysis including cinematic and photographic design, documentary, drama and experimental film, television and digital production, animation, e-games, interactive TV, sonic media, community and indigenous media. While providing real-life and industry standard training the major aims to develop an understanding of the Australian and global screen industry and will equip students with a wide range of professional skills in screen, sound, digital and new media areas.
Employment Prospects:
Graduates can expect to find employment in a wide range of fields, from the creative industries (new media, advertising, television, music, film) to management, administration, public policy, media research. Graduates will also have had ample opportunities to be familiar with a range of screen and sound crew functions such as Directing, Editing, production design, lighting, Director of Photography etc.

Internet access is required for students studying externally; exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Quota:
Many of the production units in Screen Production are subject to quota. Entry to Part II production units depends on students' performance (Distinction grade average) in the Part I production unit prerequisites. In certain instances, and at the discretion of the Academic Chair, the Part I prerequisite may be waived for students with previous production experience.
