This degree provides practising Registered Nurses the opportunity to obtain an undergraduate qualification and further their knowledge and skills in nursing issues essential for advanced professional practice. The course also prepares students to progress to postgraduate studies.

Students who are Australian residents will benefit from the topics on leadership, cultural and Indigenous health care, teaching, research and management.

Students who are currently registered to practice in an overseas country will additionally benefit from studies on nursing within an Australian context.

Employment Prospects:
Registered Nurses with advanced knowledge and skills in nursing leadership, cultural and Indigenous health care, teaching, research and management are well placed to contribute effectively to the multidisciplinary team in a changing and evolving health care system.

There is a global shortage of registered nurses and Australia is also affected by this. The knowledge and skills gained through this course, particularly that of Australian contemporary practice, will position graduates well for employment in Australia and many overseas countries where Australian nurses are sought.

Students will be required to provide copies of a current CPR certificate, Working with Children Card, clear National Police Certificate and Department of Health WA Criminal Screening Card.

Main research areas:
Contemporary Nursing.

Accreditation and Registration:
Completion of the Bachelor of Nursing (Conversion) course will allow graduates to be eligible to apply to the Nurses and Midwives Board of Western Australia for registration in the category of Registered Nurse.
