The media have a particular importance for Indigenous people. Radio, television and newspapers are vehicles for telling their stories, but more importantly they offer opportunities through employment for Indigenous people to tell their stories themselves.
This course gives Indigenous people an alternative pathway into university study in the field of media. It is designed to assess the suitability of applicants wishing to study in the School of Media Communication and Culture, and will focus on the following areas of the media: Print, Radio, Television and Film, Indigenous Production and Multimedia. Emphasis is on production skills, including individual and group projects.
Instruction is in the form of small group workshops, tutorials and lectures from Murdoch staff, government agencies and industry.
