Description Exercise Physiology is a mainstream allied health profession concerned with the delivery of exercise, lifestyle, and behavioural modification programs for the prevention and management of chronic disease and injury. Murdoch graduates of the Exercise Physiology course will possess the skills and ability to provide physical activity and behavioural programs for clients with conditions as diverse as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, cancer, arthritis, respiratory disease and many others.
Admission Requirements: Onshore course offerings Entry into this course is restricted to those completing the requirements of an accredited (through ESSA: Exercise and Sports Science Australia) Exercise Science degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0 (or institution equivalent).
Specific to Murdoch University (internal) students: Entry into this course is restricted to those maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0 and completing all units within the BSc (Movement Science) and BSc (Sport and Health Science).
This course does have a quota, therefore the minimum GPA may not guarantee entry into the course and the indicative GPA may vary from year to year.

Equivalent of an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0.
Course Learning Outcomes Knowledge
1) Be able to explain the mechanisms through which exercise can improve the health of clinical populations
2) Be able to explain the practice scope of Accredited Exercise Physiology and its role in the Australian Healthcare System

Skills
1) Able to identify and use appropriate assessment tools for specific populations, correctly interpret the results and communicate them to relevant stakeholders in an appropriate manner
2) Able to deliver exercise programs for clients with pathology or injury
3) Able to compile, critically evaluate, and communicate the scientific rationale for their professional decision making and service delivery

1) Be able to utilise Evidence Based Practice by evaluating the scientific literature and clinical environment to create best practice exercise interventions for clients with pathology or injury

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
