|Description||The course provides graduates from wide cognate disciplines with knowledge, skills, and experience in developing Games and Apps with a focus on commercial viability and industry best practices, as well as complementary development of business and marketing skills. Completion of this course provides the opportunity for disciplined Games and Apps development within real world contexts, both for commercial and non-commercial environments.|
|Admission Requirements: Onshore course offerings||Recognised Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) or higher or equivalent training in a relevant field. If the first degree is not related to this area of study then satisfactory preparation for the course through relevant professional experience is required.
Equivalent of an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0.
|Course Learning Outcomes||Knowledge
Understand Games and Apps design and production processed by:
* Gaining an understanding of the involved disciplines, skills, techniques, and methods employed in developing games and app based software;
* Learning the role of mediated digital software and interfaces in cultural communication in terms of representation, meaning, and human interaction;
* Recognising the holistic creative endeavour in researching, designing, developing, implementing, managing, evaluating and maintaining interactive media projects;
* Approaching games and app design with perspectives informed by markets, requirements, and the realities of project management and business acumen.
Develop Games and Apps design and production skills by:
* Researching across involved disciplines such as market demand, gap/trend analysis, competitor analysis, and useability/requirements analysis to apply a range of design decision making methodologies for a specific purpose;
* Researching, prototyping and evaluating interactive media artefacts in relation to specific purposes, audiences, contexts and underlying technologies;
* Applying recognised game and software design methods and appropriate practical design techniques, tools and technologies, and being able to adapt these techniques when necessary;
* Adopting a range of techniques to appropriately project manage all the aspects of a game or app project;
* Critically engaging new media theory and processes as well as market data and collected metrics to analyse, interpret and evaluate game and app designs and implementations.
Apply Games and Apps design and production knowledge by:
* Demonstrating the use of design research methodologies toward the creation of innovative and marketable Games and Apps;
* Presenting creative and strategic solutions to client based problems, in a variety of modes, to diverse audiences, and for a range of purposes;
* Skilfully using and adapting tools techniques and workflow processes toward the successful production of Games and Apps;
* Synthesizing personal, group, industry convention and client based viewpoints towards the successful integration of client/player requirements into the end product.

* Recognising the relevant and required ethical conduct and behaviour within the Games and Apps industry is practiced;

|Employment Prospects||This course is relevant to those who wish to create interactive multimedia applications for desktop, mobile, and console platforms including games for entertainment or education, data visualisation, and software development for process management, training, or teaching.|

|Internet Access Requirements||Murdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.|
