Description Waardong is a special entry and enabling program in the School of Veterinary and Life Sciences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to become veterinarians. In order to maximise student success, Waardong provides academic, social and cultural support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in Veterinary Science or, as approved by the relevant Academic Chair, other participating Science courses.

Waardong teaches Orientation Chemistry for students without a background in chemistry, and supplementary enabling units for students throughout their veterinary or other science studies.

Students interested in applying for entry should contact the Special Education Officer in the School of Veterinary and Life Sciences. The deadline for submission of applications is 30 September each year; Testing and Selection week is in early December.
Admission Requirements: Onshore course offerings This special entry program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is based on student results during the one-week residential Testing and Selection process. Evaluation of student readiness for study involves practical and written exercises throughout the week. Alternate entry may be permitted through K-Track, with approval from the relevant Academic Chair.

Additional Academic Progress Requirements Progress of Waardong students will be assessed by the Board of Examiners on the recommendation of the Special Education Officer and the Chair of the Waardong Committee.
Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
