Description Clinical Laboratory Science provides a foundation for a career in medical diagnosis or other health-related fields. The major builds on a general introduction to human biology, cell biology and human molecular genetics to cover a range of clinical laboratory disciplines including medical microbiology, haematology, immunology, histology and diagnostic genomics. Students will obtain a broad knowledge of disease processes as well as technical skills in the handling of patient material, clinical testing and the analysis and troubleshooting of results. The major provides extensive exposure to he underlying principles involved in the measurement of clinical parameters.
The Bachelor of Science (Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences) is a flexible degree with single/double major and major/minor combinations that builds deep understanding and practical experience in specific areas of expertise, and which provides opportunities for industry and community engagement. Studies can be undertaken in different specialisations or across other disciplines to broaden understanding of the way in which science operates in relation to the social, business, health and policy environments. This degree provides sound preparation for students aspiring to entry into higher level postgraduate courses such as medicine, or for research at Honours/PhD level.

Equivalent of an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0.

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
