Description This Major will use a systems perspective to provide a sound understanding of the factors that affect the growth of plants used for food and forage production. It will demonstrate how plant growth can be manipulated through various interventions. The farm business operating environment will be considered in terms of government policies, markets and the value chain. Embedded role of new technologies in improving yield, profitability and sustainability of food production systems.
The Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Sciences) builds deep understanding and practical experience as well as industry and community engagement, with double majors and major/minor combinations available in different specialisations or other disciplines to enhance how agricultural science operates in social, business, health and policy environments. Extensive laboratory work and farm experience provide opportunities to enhance practical skills.
Admission Requirements: Onshore course offerings As per normal undergraduate admission requirements. There are no prerequisites for admission but it is highly desirable for students to have
studied WACE Chemistry 3A/3B and at least Mathematics 2A/2B.

Equivalent of an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0.

Employment Prospects Graduates will be able to pursue careers in agriculture, agribusiness, and government, acting in policy, technical, research and administrative roles. is will be with State and Australian Government Departments of Agriculture, agribusiness, other private industry and natural resource management groups.

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
