Description The Graduate Certificate in Design Thinking explores design thinking through a theoretical and practical lens, in collaboration with industry-based clients. Students employ human-centred design methods from commercial, social and service design perspectives to engage with practical problems and propose possible solutions in a range of production and service contexts.
Admission Requirements: Onshore course offerings As per normal postgraduate admission requirements.

English competence. Students demonstrating English competence via IELTS need an overall score of 6.0 with no individual band less than 6.0.
Course Learning Outcomes Students will
LO 01 Acquire knowledge of design thinking processes, including researching, prototyping and evaluating systems for commercial and social problems.
LO 02 Evaluate the role of human-centered design with a critical and empathetic analysis of a problem.
LO 03 Apply and adapt a range of design thinking methods and appropriate practical techniques, tools and technologies to manage a project.
LO 04 Critically engage with new design thinking theory and processes to reframe, employ insights and evaluate commercial and social service
issues
LO 05 Apply design research methodologies towards the creation of innovative ideas and concepts, including presenting creative and strategic solutions
to client-based problems.

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
