Description This is a three semester/ trimester coursework degree designed to provide the education profession and the community in general with leaders capable of addressing critical issues in educational practice, policy and research. It is designed for: teachers, educational administrators, and other education professionals who seek to extend and deepen their expertise in Education; professionals carrying out educational duties in other relevant fields who seek professional development and renewal; and those planning to proceed to the Doctor of Education.

Students undertake a research-based project of 6 points and 30 points of coursework. This is a coursework-classified course and it can be completed in internal or external mode or a combination of modes at the Murdoch campus and completed internally at the Murdoch University International Study Centre (Dubai, U.A.E).
Admission Requirements: Onshore course offerings Recognised Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent training, and a graduate-entry course in Education requiring at least a half year of full-time study, or part-time equivalent,
OR three-year Bachelor of Arts in Education.
OR individual applications to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants will need to demonstrate that experience gained in any studies and or professional experience has provided them with the knowledge and skills to undertake the Master of Education.

Applicants with a recognised Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent qualification, and a graduate-entry course in Education requiring at least a half year of full-time study, or part-time equivalent, may be eligible for advanced standing of up to 12 points.

Participants applying for credit for professional workplace learning or work completed through accredited professional development courses or continuing education should contact the Academic Chair for advice. Credit may also be granted for Masters-level units completed in other courses at Murdoch or at other higher education institutions with a maximum advanced standing of 12 points.

Equivalent of an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.
Course Learning Outcomes At the end of this course students will be able to:
1.Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of educational research principles and methods.
2.Demonstrate an advanced and integrated understanding of educational theory and professional teaching practice.

3.Evaluate, analyse and synthesise a range of educational theories and concepts and critically reflect on their relevance to professional practice.

4.Research, plan and implement educational research projects in diverse teaching and learning contexts.
5.Create, lead and implement complex educational initiatives and evaluate the process and outcomes.
Professional Recognition This course does not constitute a teaching qualification and is not accredited by the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
