All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
Description Social skills and emotional intelligence are ever-increasing as 'commodities' in the workplace. Now, more than ever, people need to be able to work with and understand others and carefully move across communities and cultures. This minor introduces students to the skills and practices associated with community development. The course gives students the chance to extend their knowledge of the challenges facing communities and to build their skills in working in different settings. This minor is for people seeking to augment work with community in a range of settings including local government, not-for-profit organisations, Aboriginal Community controlled groups, community arts centres, social service organisations, and the resources sector.
