The scholarships aim to contribute to long-term development needs of Australia’s partner countries to promote good governance, economic growth and human development. They provide people with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive change and influence the development outcomes of their own country, through obtaining tertiary qualifications at participating Australian institutions. ADS holders are therefore required to return to their country of citizenship for a minimum period of two years following the completion of their scholarship, to contribute to the development of their country.

Under AusAID’s gender/equity policy, ADS awards are allocated equally between men and women. For more information see
