Description: 

This unit is divided into clinical sciences, diagnosis, neurology radiological diagnosis sections. It develops a principles approach to clinical pathology and neurology from a cellular level to organ failure -- focusing on neurology and systemic pathophysiology -- while utilising a case-study approach with diagnostic workshops to illustrate the concepts presented. The radiological presentations of selected musculoskeletal and visceral disorders are integrated; while practical lab times are be used to further develop skills in image interpretation.

Contact time: 

Lectures/workshops: 5 hours per week; practicals 4 hours per week.
For radiology component: 1 to 2 hours per week assigned small group sessions during second half of semester, 8 hours of open radiology lab time for the semester.

Prerequisites: 

Enrolment in BSc/BChiro and successful completion of Years 1 and 2.

Students who have successfully completed a unit may not enrol for credit in any subsequent version of that unit, even if under a different code and/or title, nor in any parallel lower- or higher-level version. Students enrolled in a higher-level version of a unit are required to demonstrate advanced analytical skills and/or use of advanced research tools in assignments modified for that level.

Cancellation of Courses, Minors and Units
