Description: 

This unit continues students' previous training in the area of physical and differential diagnosis implementing the general principles of pharmacology in a clinical environment.
It will provide an understanding of the basic concepts and principles of pharmacology such as: standard definitions; sources of drugs; drug names and classifications; routes of administration; drug action; absorption; bioavailability; distribution; metabolism; excretion; and adverse reactions and will also provide an understanding of how drugs work in the various systems of the body.

Contact time: 

Lectures: 2 hours per week; tutorials: 2 hours per week.

Prerequisites: 

Enrolment in BSportsSc, BSc(Exercise Physiology) or enrolment in BSc/BChiropractic with successful completion of BSc(Chiropractic).

Exclusions: 

Students who have successfully completed CHI414 Primary Practice V:Diagnosis and Pharmacology cannot enrol in this unit for credit.
