Description: 

This unit integrates chiropractic practice with appropriate professional ethics required of primary contact health professionals. It includes ethical considerations of the rights and responsibilities of both the practitioners and the patients. Emphasis is placed on risk management, informed consent, record keeping, legal issues in health care, ethics in general and principles of medical ethics, the patient-doctor relationships, and writing a medical-legal report.

Contact time: 

Lectures: 2 hours per week; workshops: 2 hours per week.

Prerequisites: 

Completion of BSc (Chiropractic) or permission of the Academic Chair.

Students who have successfully completed a unit may not enrol for credit in any subsequent version of that unit, even if under a different code and/or title, nor in any parallel lower- or higher-level version. Students enrolled in a higher-level version of a unit are required to demonstrate advanced analytical skills and/or use of advanced research tools in assignments modified for that level.

Cancellation of Courses, Minors and Units
The University reserves the right to cancel, without notice, any course, major, minor or unit if the number of students enrolled falls below limits set by the University.
