Description: |
This unit introduces students to the experience of professional teaching. It enables students to appreciate the diverse roles and responsibilities of the classroom teacher, to understand students in schools as individuals and groups, and to develop a critical awareness of the function of schooling in Australian society. The unit includes school experience in both a primary and a secondary school. |

Lectures/workshops: 3 hours per week; school experience: two 5-day blocks. |
Prerequisites: |
Enrolment in an initial teacher education course. Students not enrolled in an initial teacher education course need to seek permission from the Unit Coordinator. |
Quota: |
This unit is subject to quota. Quota is due to limited resources and applies to the Rockingham offering. Preference will be given to students in the BEd (Primary) at Rockingham campus. |

Students who have successfully completed a unit may not enrol for credit in any subsequent version of that unit, even if under a different code and/or title, nor in any parallel lower- or higher-level version.
