Description: 

This unit prepares students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary) for teaching in the learning areas of the Arts, Health and Physical Education. Attention will be given to the role of the Arts, Health and Physical Education in the primary curriculum, together with their place in society. Theory and practice in each of the discipline areas will be explored as a way of inducting students into these educational fields.

Contact time: 

Workshops: internal and external students are required to attend an intensive on-campus teaching week. Final details will be available on the unit information page, the School of Education web site and LMS.

Prerequisites: 

Enrolment in a teacher education course [Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary)], and have successfully completed EDU101/EDU1011 Introduction to Teaching.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions: 

Students who have successfully completed EDU207 Primary Curriculum IIA (Arts, Technology, Health, PE) or E160 Multi-Arts and the Primary Curriculum may not enrol in this unit for credit.

Students who have successfully completed a unit may not enrol for credit in any subsequent version of that unit, even if under a different code and/or title, nor in any parallel lower- or higher-level version. Students enrolled in a higher-level version of a unit are required to demonstrate advanced analytical skills and/or use of advanced research tools in assignments modified for that level.

Cancellation of Courses, Minors and Units
The University reserves the right to cancel, without notice, any course, major, minor or unit if the number of students enrolled falls below limits set by the University.
