Description: 

This unit focuses on ways of enhancing the learning of all students by examining the cognitive, emotional, social and behavioural factors which impact on the ecology of inclusive learning environments. It considers whole school, community, classroom and individual teaching and learning adjustments to meet diverse student needs. Students enrolled in the Inclusive Education minor will focus on the needs of students requiring high levels of adjustments including students with challenging behaviour, cognitive impairment and learning difficulties.

Contact time: 

Lectures/seminars: 3 hours per week.

Prerequisites: 

E241/EDU241 Processes of Learning or E245/EDU245 Learning and Assessment Processes or E246/EDU240 Facilitating Lifelong Learning or EDU242 Learning and Assessment: Theory and Practice or equivalent or concurrent enrolment with EDU242 Learning and Assessment: Theory and Practice. Students without the prerequisite should consult the Unit Coordinator.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Notes: 

Students currently enrolled, or intending to enrol, in the Special Education/Inclusive Education minor should enrol in the higher-level version of this unit.
