Description: |
This unit aims to assist students in acquiring knowledge and skills which will facilitate primary school children's active learning of mathematics. In particular, students will be expected to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of mathematics and of how children learn mathematics to understand and implement a program directed towards the development of children's mathematical skills and the ability to work mathematically. Attention is given to the demands and opportunities for numeracy across the curriculum. |

Lectures: 1 hour per week; workshops: 3 hours per week plus the equivalent of 1.5 days intensive during Winter Term. |
Prerequisites: |
Enrolment in a Teacher Education course [BEd (Primary), BEd (Primary) (Graduate), BEd (Early Childhood and Primary), BEd (Primary)/BA (AIS)], and successful completion of EDU101/EDU1011 Introduction to Teaching. |
Notes: |
Students enrolled in the BEd (Primary) are recommended to enrol in EDU3153 School Experience: Primary BEd in the same semester. |
Quota: |
This unit is subject to quota. Quota is due to limited resources and applies to the Rockingham offering. Preference will be given to students in the BEd (Primary) at Rockingham campus. |
