Description: 

This unit aims to prepare students for facilitating effective learning in two curriculum areas, 'Society and Environment' and 'Science', with particular application to the primary classroom. The unit consists of two separate, but related strands both of which promote the use of 'inquiry' or an investigative approach to learning.

Contact time: 

3 hours per week for 10 weeks.

Prerequisites: 

Enrolment in a Teacher Education Course [BEd (Primary), BEd (Primary) (Graduate), BEd (Early Childhood and Primary, BEd (Primary)/BA (AIS)], and successful completion of EDU101/EDU1011 Introduction to Teaching.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions: 

Students who have successfully completed E283 Studies of Society and Environment (formerly E283 Social Studies and the Primary Curriculum) and E284 Science and the Primary Curriculum may not enrol in this unit for credit.

Notes: 

Students are recommended to enrol in EDU3154 School Experience: Primary BEd in the same semester.

Quota: 

This unit is subject to quota. Quota is due to limited resources and applies to the Rockingham offering. Preference will be given to students in the BEd (Primary) at Rockingham campus.
