From Pilbara mines to Balinese beaches, Australians and Asians are encountering each other in new, productive and creative ways. Historically, geographically and culturally, Australia and Asia have always been linked through circuits of trade, travel and migration. But globalisation has brought new challenges, opportunities and conflicts. How do contemporary Australians and Asians perceive each other, and what determines these perceptions: Historical legacies? Economic interests? Media clichés? And how do we construct and experience our own identities in a globalising world? |
