Description: |
This unit provides an introduction to computer and information technologies. It investigates the nature and value of information, computer hardware, software and communications technologies and their convergence, human-computer interaction, computer-based information systems, and the impact of information technology on organisations and society. The theory will be complemented by practical work using the major types of end-user software used in organisations today (for example, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation graphics). |

Nil. External students must have independent access to adequate computing facilities or access to campus computers by attendance. |

Students who have successfully completed a unit may not enrol for credit in any subsequent version of that unit, even if under a different code and/or title, nor in any parallel lower- or higher-level version. Students enrolled in a higher-level version of a unit are required to demonstrate advanced analytical skills and/or use of advanced research tools in assignments modified for that level.
Cancellation of Courses, Minors and Units
The University reserves the right to cancel, without notice, any course, major, minor or unit if the number of students enrolled falls below limits set by the University.
