Description: 

This unit introduces the fundamentals of digital design, providing students with basic skills and literacy in the concepts and processes of visual design. In the labs students will be introduced to digital media formats, production software, blog design and publication and the fundamentals of screen design. The theory workshops will explore the cultural consequences of visual design and its digital production and distribution, providing students with an understanding of issues concerning interactivity, Web 2.0, games, networks and convergence.

Contact time: 

Lectures: 1 hour per week; laboratories: 2 hours per week; tutorials: 1 hour per week.
Note: Laboratories/tutorials start in Week 2 of semester and the structure of such will be explained in the introductory lecture in Week 1.

Prerequisites: 

Nil.

Exclusions: 

Students who have successfully completed MUL101/MCC129 Introduction to Digital Media may not enrol in this unit for credit.
