Description:	Achieving a high level of critical and creative thinking is one of the most important goals of a university education. This unit aims to enhance the thinking and communication skills that are fundamental to all of your academic studies. Employers in most professions and industries regard these abilities as essential. Effective thinking demands rigorous analysis, imagination and insight. In this unit you will develop and practise these skills and learn how to structure a successful, systematically reasoned essay.
Contact time:	Lectures: 1 hour per week; tutorials: 1.5 hours per week.
Prerequisites:	Nil. Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Students who have successfully completed a unit may not enrol for credit in any subsequent version of that unit, even if under a different code and/or title, nor in any parallel lower- or higher-level version. Students enrolled in a higher-level version of a unit are required to demonstrate advanced analytical skills and/or use of advanced research tools in assignments modified for that level.

Cancellation of Courses, Minors and Units
