Description: 

Introduction to the accounting package QuickBooks or a similar package. Topics will be linked back to the package and by the end of the course students will be able to record accounting transactions and produce relevant financial statements. In addition, the unit will teach fundamental accounting concepts and principles which will enable students to be able to record, process and analyse accounting information. Topics: the double entry recording system, financial statements, valuations and measurement of assets, liabilities and equity.

Contact time: 

Lectures: 1 hour per week; workshops: 2 hours per week.

Prerequisites: 

C160/BUS160 Introduction to Accounting.

Exclusions: 

Students who have successfully completed C168 Principles of Accounting and/or C255 Financial Accounting 1 may not enrol in this unit for credit.
