Description: 

Econometrics is concerned with the empirical testing of economic and finance theories. A working knowledge of the subject is essential for those students intending to work as professional economists, financial analysts and business professionals. This unit adopts a hands-on approach to the subject, combining the theory of econometrics with the use of the latest computer packages. The unit provides students with a good working knowledge of the subject and the ability to solve practical problems.

Contact time: 

Lectures: 1 hour per week; computer laboratories: 2 hours per week.

Prerequisites: 

M164/MAS164 Fundamentals of Mathematics or M180/MAS180 Introduction to Statistics or M183/MAS183 Statistical Methods and C161/BUS161 Introduction to Economics.

Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.
