This unit examines education's role in fostering economic, social, and political development, for both individuals and nations, in the developing and developed world. It will also show the limitations and contradictions of education for development. In addition to particular topics (health, economic development, tolerance, etc.), we will also examine development theories and multinational organisations such as the World Bank and UNESCO. This unit is relevant for postgraduate or upper-level undergraduate students interested in education policy, globalisation or international development |
