Description: 

This unit will focus on the coastal environments found around the Australian continent. It provides a basic overview of coastal oceanography, marine biodiversity and coastal management. The unit covers principles of oceanography, coastal processes, coastal landforms, diversity of marine plants and animals, coastal habitats and ecosystems, marine resource usage, coastal management issues and current best practice.

Contact time: 

Lectures: 2 hours per week; laboratories: 3 hours per week.

Prerequisites: 

ENV102 Introduction to Environmental Science and BIO103 Environmental Biology.

Exclusions: 

Marine Science students.

Notes: 

This unit replaced ENV204 Principles of Oceanography as of 2007.
