Description: 

This unit introduces the fundamentals of computer graphics, animation, audio and video, which is essential for multimedia and digital content development. Tools and techniques used for the creation, manipulation and transformation of visual and audio information are introduced. Topics include: understanding of bitmap and vector graphics; processing graphics; 2-D and 3-D geometry; nature of 3-D graphics; use of vectors and matrices in graphics; geometric manipulation of 3-D graphics; shading; animation; audio; video.

Contact time: 

Lectures/tutorials/workshops: up to 5 hours per week

Prerequisites: 

Nil.

Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions: 

Students who have successfully completed ICT217 Digital Images, Graphics and Audio may not enrol in this unit for credit.
