Description: |
Preparatory mathematics unit intended for students who have insufficient background for other units, in particular MAS167 Computational Mathematics, MAS182 Applied Mathematics and BUS208 Quantitative Methods for Business and Economics. Students are streamed according to the needs of these units. Topics: algebra; polynomials, exponential and logarithmic functions and their graphs; matrices; basic concepts of differential calculus and applications; recursion; numbers in different bases. Students must have access to graphics calculators (some are available for loan). Refer to Unit Coordinator for details. |

Exclusions: |
Students who have successfully completed a mathematics unit of the standard of TEE Calculus or higher may not enrol in this unit. Students may not enrol in this unit and either MAS161 Calculus and Matrix Algebra or MAS182 Applied Mathematics concurrently. |
