Description: 

The purpose of this unit is to develop knowledge of the practical, conceptual and policy aspects of sustainable development. The unit reviews the global mandate for sustainability but focuses on its implementation at a primary local and State level. A number of tools for planning and implementing sustainability are introduced.

Contact time: 

Lectures: 2 hours per week; tutorials: 1 hour per week.

Prerequisites: 

Nil.

Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Exclusions: 

Students who have successfully completed S541 Workshop on Sustainable Development may not enrol in this unit for credit.

Notes: 

Graduate, Postgraduate and Honours students should enrol in the higher-level code for this unit except where the course structure states otherwise.
