Description This is a specified elective unit of the Bachelor of Creative Media that requires students to apply their discipline skills to a preapproved or client driven project. Students will be supervised by a lecturer whilst tackling a project brief using methods appropriate to their discipline. Students can undertake the project individually or as a member of a team of peers.
Unit Learning Outcomes ULO1 Use advanced research techniques in a creative media discipline to gather, analyse and synthesise information. (CLO1)
ULO 2 Apply creative media theory in the field (CLO2)
ULO 3 Demonstrate ethical thinking in interpersonal, social and professional contexts (CLO 7)
ULO4 Demonstrate relevant critical, professional and technical skills using traditional and digital media in approaching a project brief (CLO8)
ULO5 Apply creative and critical thinking skills to address complex problems (CLO5)
ULO6 Demonstrate the use of creative media related research, methods and practices toward the resolution of a project. (CLO4)
Timetabled Learning Activities One two-hour meeting/workshop a week for 12 weeks or as negotiated with the unit coordinator.
Unit Learning Experiences The specific learning experiences of each student will differ depending on their project, but in general each student will be introduced to appropriate methods for the project; resources; need for field work; ethical considerations; the practicalities of working in a team; professional conduct; and technical/production specifications.
Other Learning Experiences Students may need to conduct fieldwork and in the campus studios and production suites, using recording and editing equipment and facilities.

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
