Advanced Criminology (CRM306)

|Description||The Unit will challenge students to examine the relevance of the theory they have learned throughout their degree when attempting to explain examples of real criminal behaviour. There will be a focus on group work and engaging with contemporary literature and research in a manner that would parallel a policy officer working in a criminal justice agency|
|Unit Learning Outcomes||On successful completion of the unit you should be able to:
1. Demonstrate awareness of, and evidence-based opinions about, contemporary issues for criminology and criminal justice.
2. Critically reflect on the strengths and limitations of existing criminological theory in an applied setting.
3. Critically reflect on the strengths and limitations of the criminal justice system in responding to examples of offending.

|Internet Access Requirements||Murdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.|
