|Timetabled Learning Activities|
|Unit Learning Experiences||This unit focuses on the application of theory in practice. Pre-service teachers are expected to take on increasing responsibility for teaching, as well as contribute to the broader life of the school by participating in other duties where appropriate. By the end of the placement, pre-service teachers are expected to be able to work independently to plan, teach and assess across learning areas.
Pre-service teachers will be mentored by a qualified teacher throughout the placement. Teachers will introduce them to the expectations and responsibilities of the teaching profession at both the classroom and the whole school level. A team teaching approach to the planning, teaching and assessment cycle will be employed during this placement. Students will focus on all Australian Graduate Standards for Teachers (Graduate Level) and the Murdoch Graduate Attributes.
|Other Learning Experiences||Three weeks of full-time block placement in a primary school.
One meeting will be held, prior to the Professional Experience, to explain the expectations and requirements of the Professional Experience.
|Assessment||Students will be assessed on a standardised assessment form based on the Australian Graduate Standards for Teachers (AGST) and Murdoch Graduate Attributes. (MGA)
Formative assessment and feedback will be provided by the onsite Mentor and External Moderator school coordinator throughout the placement. This will be directly linked to the unit aims, AGSTs and MGAs. Formative feedback will be completed by a Self-Evaluation Report, completed by the Pre-Service Teacher and discussed with the Mentor Teacher to ensure accuracy. The Mentor teacher will submit a summative assessment based on the pre-service teacher's ability to address the identified APST and MGA.
