Description FlexiTrack is a series of four modules designed to develop skills that are relevant to any degree program. Each module is made up of a series of engaging topics, interactive activities and assignments which introduce students to university culture and build on academic skills such as reading and note-making, referencing, essay writing, numeracy and report writing.
Unit Learning Outcomes On successful completion of the unit, you should be able to demonstrate following skills, knowledge and attributes at an undergraduate level:
1. Study skills such as time management and organisation and interpersonal communication

2. Academic skills including academic reading, writing and numeracy, oral communication, critical thinking, information seeking and management, and use of learning technologies (e.g. computers and libraries)

3. Conceptual understandings of: (a) the nature, process and possibilities of university study, (b) the purposes and processes of change (personal and societal), and (c) the roles of individuals and groups as agents of change

4. Attributes that promote success at university such as persistence, self-management and commitment
Timetabled Learning Activities
Unit Learning Experiences FlexiTrack provides options for an intense, full-time or part-time scaffolded, learning experience. The approach to learning in this unit is supportive and structured. The mini-lectures, videos, interactive learning activities and tutor-led forums will introduce new ideas and facilitate your understanding through guided discussion. You will then apply the skills and understandings you have gained to independent tasks that are designed to refine and consolidate your learning. Finally, you will demonstrate your new learning through completing assessment tasks that develop your learning skills, challenge your thinking and allow you to show that you are ready for university study.
Further, assessment tasks are structured to provide multiple opportunities to practice and master your academic skills, to receive helpful feedback on your work and to understand and correct mistakes. Early assessment tasks are worth very little marks to take away the stress of having to perform, allowing you to focus on your learning progress instead.

Prerequisites Enrolment in FlexiTrack Enabling Course. Concurrently enrolled at a partner secondary school or institution, endorsed to meet English language competency requirements.
Exclusions Students enrolled in EQU081 or EQU082 or EQU083 or EQU084 may not enrol in this unit.
Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
