Information Technology Project (ICT333)

Description This capstone unit gives students a 'real-world' experience of IT solution development. Teams of students are assigned projects with clients from academia, NGO's and industry. Teams will build on the skills developed during the study of their majors in areas such as process modelling, systems design, and implementation of IT solutions relevant to the assigned project. The project culminates with a public presentation of the project deliverables. Students are expected to enrol in this unit in their final teaching period.
Timetabled Learning Activities Lectures: 2 hours per week; tutorials: 1 hour per week.
Other Learning Experiences Supervisor meetings: 1 hour per week.
Prerequisites ICT218/ICT285 Databases or ICT362/ICT377 Network Security.
Notes This is the capstone unit and as such only students who will be eligible to graduate on the successful completion of the teaching period may enrol in this unit. Students who do not meet this criterion may apply to the unit coordinator for early enrolment. Only in exceptional circumstances will this be considered.

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
