Media Projects (MCC312)

Organisational Unit Creative Media, Arts and Design
Credit Points 4
Description This unit extends the practical, critical and research skills developed in media production units. It is designed for dedicated media makers who wish to (i) participate in a client or a tutor-directed project (ii) explore the conceptual possibilities of the visual medium in the context of a group production (iii) explore collaborative links with other communication and media majors and units. This unit is designed for students in their third full-time year of study.
Timetabled Learning Activities Tutorials: 2.5 hours per week.
Prerequisites MCC201 Professional Development in Screen Production if enrolled in Screen Production major; OR MCC267 Photo and Video Journalism if enrolled in Photography minor; OR MCC244 Radio Presenting and Producing if enrolled in Radio major; OR MCC214 Sound Production if enrolled in Sound major; OR completion of PHO124 Photography 1 and PHO203 Photography 2 if enrolled in the Photography major. Permission of the Unit Coordinator is required for enrolment.
Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
