Professional Placement in Digital Media (PHO330)

Description The aim of this unit is to give selected students on the job industry experience to provide a practical bridge from university into the workplace. Industry placements in metropolitan or regional placements will be a minimum of 120 hours of contact time. During this time students will be required to demonstrate a range of skills relevant and specific to their vocational specialisation.

Unit Learning Experiences As designated by the employer in conjunction with the Unit Coordinator, however, the approach to learning in this unit is to offer students the opportunity to complete a professional placement and to integrate their workplace and academic learning through reflective and research-based assessments related to the placement.
Other Learning Experiences Determined by the placement type and unit coordinator
Assessment Students will be assessed by the employer as per guidelines set by the Unit Coordinator. Although the specific assessments will be determined by the specific placement details, there are over-arching expectations.
* Pre-placement photographic production house analysis (written)
* A journal recording your daily experiences (written)
* Post-placement critique (written)
* Practical component: based on your daily work

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
