Radio Professional Placement (RAD325)

Description The aim of this unit is to give selected final year students on-the-job industry experience to provide a practical bridge from university into the workplace. Industry placements in metropolitan or regional centres will be full-time across four weeks (or part-time equivalent). During this time students are required to demonstrate a range of skills relevant to their vocational specialisation.

Unit Learning Experiences The approach to learning in this unit is to offer students the opportunity to complete a professional placement and to integrate their workplace and academic learning through reflective and research-based assessments related to the placement.


Assessment Although the specific assessments will be determined by the specific placement details, there are over-arching expectations.
* Pre-placement station and program analysis (written)
* A journal recording your daily experiences (written)
* Post-placement critique (written)
* Practical component: based on your daily work
Prerequisites Enrolment is by permission of the Academic Chair. Students will have completed Part I studies, and would normally be in their final year of study and achieved a GPA of 2.5 (out of 4).'

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
