Internship Professional Placement (SWM6191)

Description Students undertaking an international internship equivalent to 6 weeks full-time (300 hours), or an extended internship of 12 weeks full-time/500 hours (or equivalent) concurrently with SWM619 Research Internship, will be directed to enrol in this unit. In undertaking this unit, students will be able to apply and development their knowledge in a specific professional/workplace setting; develop and demonstrate appropriate professional behaviours, including teamwork, reflective practice; ethical conduct; appropriate responsibility and accountability; and communication skills.
Unit Learning Outcomes On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:
· Integrate and apply previous learning and knowledge to policy, practice and problem solving in a specific setting;
· Display professionalism in the workplace, including ethical conduct, team work, reliability and time management;
· Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills;
· Exemplify reflective practice: an ability to reflect on experiences and progress as a professional;
· Give and receive constructive critical feedback in a workplace setting.

Prerequisites Enrolment in the Master of Public Policy and Management, Master of Development Studies, Master of International Affairs and Security, Master of International Affairs, Master of Health Policy and Leadership or Master of Health Administration, Policy and Leadership; completion of at least 24 credit points; concurrent enrolment in SWM619 Research Internship.
Exclusions Students who have successfully completed SSH619 Research Internship may not enrol in this unit for credit.
Assessment A result of Ungraded Pass or Fail is awarded for this unit.

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
