The dissertation will be assessed by two staff members or other appropriately qualified people as approved by the Academic Chair. |
Timetabled Learning Activities | Meetings/discussions (face to face or on-line) as required. |
Unit Learning Experiences | The approach to learning in this unit is to develop specific research skills through self-directed learning by investigating a disease/condition. A member of the College of Veterinary Medicine will provide general oversight of the project and will be allocated to each student. |
Assessment | Students will develop and instigate a program through close discussion with their principal project coordinator. Assessment will be based on evaluation of the dissertation and other written submissions as may be required. |
Prerequisites | Enrolment in Master of Veterinary Studies in Veterinary Surveillance or Doctor of Veterinary Medical Science or permission of the Academic Chair. Students enrolled in the Master of Veterinary Studies in Conservation Medicine are required to have a distinction average in their required units in order to enrol in this elective unit. |

Internet Access Requirements | Murdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online. |
