The placement will be instituted within organisations appropriate to the course of study. Both the academic supervisor and the employer, in consultation, will assess the unit. The unit includes some workshops to prepare the students for the workplace experience.
Timetabled Learning Activities
Prerequisites Permission of Academic Chair. Students will have completed Part I studies, and would normally be in their final year of study and achieved a GPA of 2.5 (out of 4).
Notes Disclaimer: Where work placement is a required component of a course, the University will make reasonable endeavours to locate one for enrolled students. However, it cannot guarantee that it will be able to do so for every student. Ultimately, the acceptance of any student for work placement is a decision for the external employer, based on the circumstances prevailing at the time.
Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
