Corporate Finance (BUS286)

Description The main objective of this unit is to develop a basic knowledge of finance, especially in relation to the investment decisions for the corporate financial manager. Major topics: the evaluation and selection of investment projects; introduction to the capital asset pricing model; dividend policy and capital structure; and working capital management.
Timetabled Learning Activities Lectures: 1.5 hours; tutorials: 1 hour
Prerequisites BUS140 Principles of Finance and Banking and MAS180 Introduction to Statistics, or BUS130 Foundational Mathematics for Business
Exclusions Students who have completed BUS224 Corporate Finance may not enrol in this unit for credit

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
