Description This unit focuses on technologies, not as hardware and software that are objects of study themselves, but as tools for personal learning and contemporary teaching. The unit will give students the opportunity to explore technology as social beings, as student learners and researchers at the university, and as classroom teachers. Tasks will be compiled in the course e-portfolio and will focus on the creation of real and useful products (such as websites and digital teaching resources).
Timetabled Learning Activities Lectures/workshops: 3 hours per week.
Prerequisites Enrolment in an initial teacher education course or permission from the Unit Coordinator.
Co-requisite (all students): Internet access, computer access.
Co-requisite: Internet access if studying externally.

Internet Access RequirementsMurdoch units normally include an online component comprising materials, discussions, lecture recordings and assessment activities. All students, regardless of their location or mode of study, need to have access to and be able to use computing devices with browsing capability and a connection to the Internet via Broadband (Cable, ADSL or Mobile) or Wireless. The Internet connection should be readily available and allow large amounts of data to be streamed or downloaded (approximately 100MB per lecture recording). Students also need to be able to enter into online discussions and submit assignments online.
