This course will prepare graduates for registration as a Registered Nurse within Australia and allow professional practice in a variety of clinical settings. The course provides a learning environment that encourages a caring therapeutic relationship between the nurse and people in health and illness, supported through holistic evidence-based nursing practice. Workplace consolidation of theory to practice and experiential and simulated learning opportunities will be features of the course in developing highly competent and sought after graduates.

Special requirements
A National Police Clearance is required as well as a level of health suitable to meet the requirements of such a course and to meet safe nursing practice. On commencement, students will be required to meet WA Department of Health vaccination requirements, students will be required to provide copies of a current CPR certificate, Working with Children Card, Department of Health WA Criminal Screening Card and Manual Handling Certificate and successful completion of the School of Health Professions Maths Competency.
Potential students who have medical conditions, disabilities or who are concerned about their ability to meet the practical requirements of the course, should review the Inherent Requirements for Nursing on the Murdoch website prior to enrolling.
Students are required to have access to a smart device that is capable of using app-based software systems.
Entry requirements (onshore)
As per normal undergraduate admission requirements, plus a clear National Police Clearance and English language competencies as described below. Recommended subjects are: Human Biological Science ATAR, Maths Applications ATAR, and Chemistry ATAR.
English language requirements
1. ATAR pathway students will require a scaled mark of 50 or more in English, English Literature or English as an additional language or dialect (ATAR English) or equivalent English, OR
2. Alternative pathway students, including course transfers, must have English as their primary language and have attended and satisfactorily completed at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed in English in a recognised country, including at least two years between years 7 and 12. Recognised countries include, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom and United States of America; OR
3. Demonstrated English competence via IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.5 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) or an equivalent score in either the TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic or the OET English language tests.

Professional recognition
Graduates from this course will be eligible to apply to the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia for registration in the category of Registered Nurse. At point of application to the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia, graduates will need to provide proof of having met an IELTS score of at least 7 in each band, if their primary or secondary education took place in a country where English is not the native language. Results from tests completed more than two (2) years prior to application for registration will not be accepted.
