Learning outcomes

Understand the meaning and significance of text in culture as forms of creative and professional writing, literature and performance.

Understand that texts function aesthetically, socially and politically in everyday life, and recognize the role and value of literature and other text-based genres, and of diverse reading and writing practices in specific historical, cultural and political contexts.

Develop the writing techniques to research, plan and write analytically, creatively and persuasively in a range of critical and creative genres and styles.

Be able to communicate, both orally and in writing, ideas and arguments suited to a range of different genres and audiences.
