Learning outcomes

1.

Financial mathematics, business statistics and financial intermediaries as they apply in a business context;

2.

Marketing concepts and theories in the context of contemporary business practice;

3.

Planning, developing and managing personal career aspirations and goals and using tools to effectively showcase capabilities;

4.

The various oral and written skills necessary to communicate effectively in English in an academic and professional context;

5.

Fundamentals of management including its control processes, functions and roles in contemporary organisations;

6.

Fundamental financial and management accounting concepts including: the accounting equation, accrual accounting, relevant accounting standards, financial statement analysis, budgeting, CVP analysis and short-term decision making;

7.

Some specific legal principles applicable to business including the Australian legal system, Contract Law and Tort Law;

8.

Information, technological and numerical literacy in the context of academic study and professional practice.
