The award of an Honorary Degree is the highest award that Murdoch University can bestow to honour individuals who have served prominently in public life or contributed significantly to the application of knowledge in society.

Candidates for Honorary Doctorates of the University have made an outstanding contribution in one or more of the following categories: intellectual achievement in any field of endeavour; community service; or service to the University. The categories of community service and service to the University must also contain some measure of intellectual achievement. Service per se is not a sufficient justification for the award of an Honorary Degree.
