The approach of the technologist is, wherever possible, to use and adapt 'off the shelf' building blocks and components to create and/or modify the required software and/or hardware. Use engineering principles for the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of plants and equipment. Gain practical engineering experience, engage with industry and learn from industry experts to build a deep understanding of engineering technology.

Special requirements

Students enrolling in units that have a practical component must make allowance for on-campus attendance to complete the practical work. All Engineering Technology students will undertake at least 300 hours of approved work experience, plus complete a report outlining the experience gained, in order to complete the requirements of the degree. This work experience must be in a suitable engineering-related area and must be approved by the Engineering Academic Chair. This professional practicum as well as support materials and guidance is provided in the 0 credit point unit ENG100 Engineering Professional Practice. This unit should be enrolled in each year.
