Unit content:
  • This unit aims to give a broad overview of examples of systems medicine approaches to addressing health challenges that have origins in cardiometabolic health. The following topics will be addressed:
  • Overview of systems medicine in cardiometabolic health
  • The influence of gut microbiomes on cardiometabolic health
  • Impact of obesity and bariatric surgery on gut microbiome and cardiometabolic health
  • Genome and metabolome wide association studies involving cardiovascular diseases of cardiometabolic diseases
